MacPorts

If you are using MacPorts, then just do

 sudo port install php5-sqlite

and restart the webserver.

Debian and Ubuntu Linux

"500 Internal Server error" occurs, but the problem is not Apache / a wrong .htaccess configuration.

Under Debian Linux, as well as Ubuntu Linux, check if the package php5-sqlite is installed.

The command below checks, if package is currently installed:

 dpkg -l | grep php5-sqlite

The command below installs the package (valid and accessible package repository preconditioned):

 apt-get install php5-sqlite

Restart the web server (or reload web server's configuration).

openSUSE Linux

In openSUSE, you can use YaST to check and install the package "php5-sqlite" or via command line.

The command below checks, if package is currently installed:

 rpm -qa | grep php5-sqlite

The command below installs the package (valid and accessible package repository preconditioned):

 rpm -ih php5-sqlite

Restart the web server (or reload web server's configuration).
